History, Architecture -- Acorn Hall

The house is furnished with exquisite pieces from the mid-Victorian era, a Rococo Revival parlor set, Trompe l'oeil effects in a bedroom, and white oriental porcelain. Decorative arts galleries provide interpretation of state and local history.

Acorn Hall is the center of a beautiful property with landscaped lawns, a gazebo, and gardens maintained by the Home Garden Club of Morristown. The plantings recreate Gardens that represent the period of 1853 to 1888 -- a perfect background to the house.

Visits are by tour only, led by docents knowledgeable of the Victorian era.

Hours: Wednesday and Thursday 11am - 4pm, Sunday 1:00 - 4pm. Group Tours may be available at other times by appointment.

Adults $6.00 Seniors $5.00 Students $3.00 Children under 12 FREE
Visitors wishing only to view the Exhibit Galleries pay half the admission.
Groups: Groups same.
Group Reservations: At least 2 weeks in advance.
Lunch: Local restaurants. Families only may picnic on back lawn.
Handicapped Access: Partial.
Directions: I-80 to I-287 South to exit 37 (Rt. 24 east) to exit 2A (Rt. 510 west, Morristown) onto Columbus Rd. bear right then take next left. House is on right. About 45 minutes from the George Washington Bridge.
