Acorn Hall |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Named for one of the largest and oldest red oak trees in New Jersey, Acorn Hall is an 1853 Italianate Victorian mansion located in Morristown. The house is furnished with exquisite pieces from the mid-Victorian era, a Rococo Revival parlor set, Trompe l'oeil effects in a bedroom, and white oriental porcelain. Decorative arts galleries provide interpretation of state and local history. Acorn Hall is the center of a beautiful property with landscaped lawns, a gazebo, and gardens maintained by the Home Garden Club of Morristown. The plantings recreate Gardens that represent the period of 1853 to 1888 -- a perfect background to the house. Visits are by tour only, led by docents knowledgeable of the Victorian era.
