While Space Farms has little to do with the cosmos, it is sort of a universe of its own. The 425 acre property devotes about 100 acres to a zoo/museum complex. The balance of the farm is used to produce the 150 tons of grain and 100 tons of hay that are needed to feed the animals for one year.

With more than 500 animals of more than 100 species, the Zoo contains the largest private collection of North American wild animals. A nice touch is that the owners pride themselves on the excellent care the animals receive. Some of the animals are quite rare, and it is hoped that visitors will discover a renewed interest and appreciation of the creatures which share earth with man.

The Museum consists of ten buildings filled with old cars, carriages, sleighs, toys, miniature circus, country store, antique (hand operated) merry-go-round, and much more, including one of the country's most unusual and diversified collections of Americana.

A great place for a relaxing family outing, Space Farms (named, by the way, after Ralph and Elizabeth Space and family) also provides an excellent field trip opportunity for school groups of all ages. Who could be too old or too young for a zoo?

While there are no formal programs, there are educational graphics at each display and periodic lectures.
