Offering Environmental Adventure Programs for about 125 consecutive years to date, Trailblazers had its beginnings in 1887, when John Ames Mitchell, editor of Life Magazine, raised money to send 266 New York City children to the Life Fresh Air Farm in Branchville, CT. Trail Blazers has carried on that tradition and today offers a wide variety of engaging Experiential Adventures and Environmental Education Programs that emphasize a personal connection with the natural environment and promote an appreciation for our natural resources. Programs can take the form of Sleep Away or Day Camp sessions, as well as special Day Trips for Schools, Scouts, and other organized youth groups, and even Birthday Parties. Trail Blazers' programs are delivered at its complex nestled in 1,100 acres of pristine land in northwestern New Jersey, just south of Port Jervis, NY. As well as offering programs, Trail Blazers offers unique opportunities for groups to rent facilities for their own conferences, events, reunions, picnics, parties, etc. Trail Blazers also offers challenging week-long Vagabond Expeditions on the Appalachian Trail or Delaware River for adventure-seekers 16 years old and up.
