The campus of Brookdale Community College is home to one of the top five museums in New Jersey. The Monmouth Museum, an important center for education and culture, features changing exhibitions which appeal to a wide variety of interests. The fact that the exhibitions change from eight to ten times each year means that visitors will find something new and interesting time and again. Art, science, nature, and cultural history are explored and interpreted here in fine style. Exhibits may feature two and three dimensional works by artists or craftsmen, folk art, specimens of birds and beasts, fossils, quilts or furniture, model railroads, tactile sculpture, American painters, and much more. Animated dinosaurs have been featured here, as well as festive holiday displays. The Becker Children's Wing is a very special place for children to about the 8th grade. It features plenty of hands-on activities sure that are sure to capture children's interest. Exhibitions here change every two years. Some past themes have included land planning, habitats, Native Americans, paleontology, energy, and more. Subjects are covered in depth through a number of activities such as games, settings and role playing, and devices such as simulations, puzzles, videos, and computer programs. The Monmouth Museum is an active place, with something almost always going on. Trips to local places of interest and abroad can be arranged through the Museum. Special events throughout the year give the family something fun and educational to do. Groups (20 or more) are welcome for a Guided or Self-Guided Tour. School Groups can participate in Guided Tours through the Museum, including the Becker Wing.
