The Zimmerli Art Museum holds extensive collections of painting, sculpture, and works on paper. In the tradition of great university museums and galleries, Zimmerli is an outstanding resource for the people of its community and surrounding areas.

The collections concentrate on the following areas: turn-of-the-century French graphics; late 19th and early 20th century stained glass; 16th - 19th century Russian art; contemporary graphics; children's literature; Soviet nonconformist art, 1956-1986; and a survey of Western art from the 15th century to the present.

World-class exhibitions, changing and permanent, take place throughout the year, along with special lectures and events. A calendar is available on request.

As an educational resource, the Museum offers excellent Programs and Tours for families and individual students. Programming is designed around current exhibitions.

Similar programming is arranged for School Groups, as well as docent-led Tours which can be coordinated with hands-on workshops and/or videos. Tours generally last an hour. Two hours when combined with a workshop, and can be adapted for all grade levels.

The unique Incremental Learning Program for grades 3, 5, and 7 is designed to supplement art training. This Museum Tour includes an interactive booklet which acts as an instructive souvenir for the student afterwards. Subject matter is appropriate for each grade level, focusing on a particular aspect of art.
