Throughout the school year The Saw Mill River Audubon Society offers a variety of high quality Educational Programs that focus on current environmental issues. Most programs are Outreach Programs delivered in the students' classroom, though a number of Field Programs are also available, utilizing a natural area of the teacher's own choosing or one of Audubon's sanctuaries. Adults are not left out -- Saw Mill River Audubon also offers great programs for Adult Groups.

The following programs are presented at school, in the classroom: Westchester Birds, Westchester Mammals, Westchester Trees, and The Animal Kingdom (pre-K thru grade 6). Each program covers basic concepts and identification and includes a slide show and age appropriate hands-on activities.

Toxic Trouble, Predators, Endangered Species, and Recycling in the Forest (grades 5 thru 8) are Intermediate Programs that use problem solving activities along with wildlife artifacts and a slide show.

Wetlands, Endangered Species, Alaskan Wilderness and Oil, and Population: Boom or Bust? (grades 7 thru Adult) include slide show lectures or video as well as background handouts and guided discussion. All programs emphasize up-to-the-minute news items.

Field Experiences (grades pre-K thru Adult) are presented at a natural area chosen by the group leader, or at an Audubon sanctuary in Westchester. Programs include, Seasonal Discovery Walks, Trees of Westchester, and Birds of Westchester.

Program lengths are flexible and can be designed to last from 30 minutes to 2 hours, depending on group needs.

Pre-K to 2nd Grade classes limited to 20 students.
