This State Historic Site witnessed Brigadier General Anthony Wayne's successful attack against British fortifications when he led 1200 Light Infantrymen into close-quarter combat with unloaded muskets!

Armed only with bayonets and fists, these soldiers of the Continental Army took the British stronghold in thirty minutes flat, winning an important victory for America and confidence for Washington's troops.

Stony Point is a great place for a family outing. A Museum helps interpret the importance of the place, and Guided Tours and Musket Demonstrations are given daily during the operating season.

The Battlefield is also home to the oldest Lighthouse on the Hudson River. It served navigators for 99 years before being replaced by an automatic beacon. Lighthouse tours may be arranged by advance reservation, weather and staff permitting.

A School Program for 4th and 5th graders includes an introduction to the site by a staff member in period dress, a visit to the Stony Point Battlefield Museum, a slide presentation on the site's history, a guided tour by costumed docent, and a weapons and clothing demonstration which includes the explanation of uniforms and other apparel and culminates in the firing of a reproduction 18th century musket.

This program features "hands-on" involvement.
