The 43-acre estate formerly owned by Mr. and Mrs. Frank Bailey was known to them as Munnysunk. The property includes a mid-1800's house and a magnificent collection of plants and trees, many exceedingly rare. Of the 600 different kinds of trees, many species came from other parts of the United States and from distant countries around the world -- wherever the temperate climate conditions resembled those of the northeastern United States, and Long Island in particular.

This beautiful place also features a graceful iris garden, an exquisite rose garden, a blanket of unusual plantings, a broad spectrum of chrysanthemums, and a perennial garden of 150 to 500 labelled varieties.

A miniature castle, standing four feet high, built in the 1930's by a master builder from northern Germany, is the focal point of Bailey's rock garden.

An interpretive Nature Trail stretches across a rustic bridge and passes along a stream, through a bog and dense, wild shrubs, offering visitors the opportunity to discover the meaning of "ecology" by observing small animals and plants in their native habitats and exploring the woodlands.

The Sensory Garden, a recent addition, will be appreciated by all people, but is especially designed for the handicapped, being wheelchair accessible and having signs in Braille.

The house is also available for rental for group meetings and conferences.

This is a peaceful place, a great place for families to get away for a while and enjoy the natural surroundings. Photographers will find many good shots here. And groups of all kinds, including School Groups, can learn about trees, flowers, and landscape design.

People under 16 years of age must be accompanied by an adult.
