Founded in 1969, Bucks County Audubon Society (BCAS) has played an important role in promoting good harmony with our natural environment.

BCAS supports a number of environmental action activities such as Historic Tree Registry, Nesting Box Programs, Wetlands Watch Programs, and other projects. Audubon members and others can participate in exciting guided field trips to nearby areas and even to states as far as Alaska.

Special events throughout the year such as art exhibitions, festivals and sales provide the perfect opportunity for the family to spend the day together doing something fun and useful. Call for a calendar.

Honey Hollow is BCAS' education center, offering a great calendar of family programs throughout the year. Workshops, seminars, lectures and more are available on some weekdays and most weekends, covering such diverse topics as astronomy, wildlife art, butterfly raising, bird watching, fishing, frog watching, and much more. Most programs take place at the center's 700 acre watershed, though some travel to other locations.

School Group Programs are available for all elementary levels. The Center's professional staff works with teachers to develop individual lessons or an entire series. In addition to custom programs, teachers can choose from a wide variety of topics, including Animal Adaptations (grades 1 - 4): students role-play different animals to learn how they adapt; Animal Habitats (1 - 6): students discover what animals need from their habitat to survive; Animal Senses (3 - 6): increases students' sensory awareness and knowledge of animal senses; Clean the Water (5 and up): students discover just how much clean water is available and how human impact affects the water cycle; Discovery Hike (Pre-K - K): a great introduction to the environment for the young ones; Insects (all grades): students catch their own insects for observation; and Rotten Log (3 - 6): provides insight into decomposition and its role in the environment. Many other programs are available, including summer programs, Scout programs, and special workshops just for teachers. All programs are "hands-on" and take about two hours.
