NOTE: IT HAS BEEN REPORTED THAT THIS MUSEUM IS PERMANENTLY CLOSED Privately owned by John E. Morgan, a Pennsylvanian who made his fortune with Morgan Knitting Mills in Hometown, the Jem Classic Car Museum features an 18,000 square foot exhibit space in a picturesque farmland setting, with more than 40 beautiful automobiles on display. The cars range from a 1902 Curved Dash Olds to a 1962 Corvette and include names like Auburn, Buick, Cadillac, Cord, DeSoto, Ford, Franklin, Graham-Paige, Hudson, Locomobile, Marmon, Packard, Peerless, Studebaker, Stutz, Wills Sainte Claire, and many others. These cars are not called "Classics" for nothing. Some visitors will be reminded of cars they once owned or wanted to own, while other, younger viewers will admire the predecessors of today's automobiles. Some special exhibits at Jem include a Vintage Fire Truck, an Electric Car, and a rare 1929 Graham-Paige LeBaron Body Dual Cowl Phaeton -- one of only two known to exist. The Cars of the 50's exhibit includes the Kaiser Darrin, Corvette, T-Bird, Hudson Hornet, a Plymouth with a Hemi engine, and more. There are motorcycles to see, and even thirty large scale airplane models. As visitors stroll through the exhibits, a Bubble Juke Box plays tunes from the past, creating the perfect atmosphere. Hungry? Visit the Snack Bar featuring Horn and Hardart machines. While there are no specific programs, groups of all ages are welcome. A Tour is certainly an educational experience for School Groups, and would enhance any American history or art & design curriculum. John Morgan turned his dream into a memorable experience for all to enjoy.
