Nautilus is the world's first nuclear powered submarine and the first ship to go to the North Pole. She has steamed more than a half million nautical miles and made more than 2,500 dives. Now a National Historic Landmark and Connecticut's State Ship, the Nautilus is an exciting and educational experience for people of all ages.

The first step in this adventure is the Submarine Force Library and Museum. This award-winning building contains the nation's finest collection of submarine material. Stand in the recreated submarine attack center and hear the sounds of battle beneath the waves. Visit the Control Room and see the valves and controls that once let the ocean into a submarine's ballast tanks. See a full-size model of the Turtle, the first submersible to attack an enemy warship (Revolutionary War). Or relax in the two Mini-Theaters and enjoy films of submarines past and present. These and other great attractions will be found in the Museum.

Then get the real thing aboard the Nautilus herself. Walk the same decks that made submarine history. Explore the torpedo and sonar rooms. See the control and navigation room, and visit the crew's quarters, the galley, and other important spaces.

Outdoor exhibits include a submarine missile hatch and four Midget Subs.

A great place for the family, the Nautilus also provides a wonderful opportunity for students of all ages to learn a lot about American and World history.
