Illustrating 18th and 19th century life in the Raritan River Valley, East Jersey Olde Towne is a great destination for individuals, families and groups interested in learning more about life in the old days. The 12-acre site adjacent to Johnson Park features a collection of about a dozen original and replica structures which were originally located in Piscataway or other nearby Middlesex County towns. Visitors can enjoy tours, unique exhibitions, educational programs, and a variety of special events and activities that bring to life the culture and heritage that have given us the best of what we have today. Tours include, among others:
The Indian Queen Tavern was removed from its original New Brunswick location and reconstructed here from new and original materials to appear much as it might have in the days when George Washington, John Adams and Benjamin Franklin visited. A variety of Education Programs and Workshops is offered to groups of all ages, through adult. Complete details can be found at East Jersey Olde Towne's official web site, linked above.
