Founded in 1976 by the Ukrainian National Women's League of America, this Museum is dedicated to enriching its audience with all that Ukrainians throughout the world have achieved and contributed to civilization. Growing rapidly, the Museum has reached the point of taking positive steps toward moving to a larger building.

The Ukrainian Museum features a rich ethnographic collection and has begun to develop a fine art collection and a historical collection.

The Folk Art Collection features a permanent display of costumes, thought to be one of the most important collections of Ukrainian textile and costumes outside the (former) Soviet Union. Decorative ceramics, brass and silver jewelry, and 900 brilliantly colored Easter eggs (pysanky) are also on display.

A newly created Fine Art Collection includes the works and archives of Vasyl Krychevsky, the etchings of Nicholas Bervinchak, and works by Mychajlo Andreenko, Ivan Trush, Oleska Novakivsky, and others. These are beautiful works, each unique in its point of view, each telling its own story.

The Historical/Archival Collection documents Ukrainian American history over the past 100 years.

Special Exhibits are presented from time to time, and these indeed present many stunning works of art. Past exhibits have included displays of rushnyky (Ukrainian ritual cloths), kilims (flat woven rugs) and the works of Nicholas Bervinchak, an American born painter whose etchings contribute to the visual history of Pennsylvania's coal mining region during the Great Depression.

The Lost Architecture of Kiev, a unique photo exhibit, depicted churches, belfries, and other major architectural landmarks of Kiev which were demolished by the Soviet government in the 1930's. These and other great exhibitions draw upon the Museum's collections. Though exhibitions change, visitors can always expect fine presentations of the best of a beautiful culture.

The Museum's cultural and Educational Programs include courses in embroidering and woodcarving, workshops devoted to hand-crafting traditional Christmas ornaments and Ukrainian Easter eggs. Special Workshop sessions are scheduled for Groups and Schools.
