The Asia Society is a national education organization dedicated to increasing the understanding of the culture, history, and contemporary affairs of Asia. Exhibits change several times throughout the year. Recent examples include An Enduring Legacy: The Mr. and Mrs. John D. Rockefeller 3rd Collection, presenting art masterpieces from China, Japan, India, Korea, Tibet, Nepal, Cambodia and Indonesia. One of the finest assemblages of Asian art in the world, the collection includes sculptures, paintings, ceramics, prints and bronzes. New Finds, Old Treasures: Early Chinese Ceramics from the Meiyintang Collection, featured 80 rare objects excavated from ancient tombs and buildings during the past 40 years. The items were interpreted to offer visitors insight into the origins and development of Chinese civilization. The above are typical of the quality of the unique exhibitions created by the Asia Society on a continual basis. Families can also enjoy a full calendar of special events and activities. Art exhibitions, performances, seminars, publications, and other activities offer great opportunities to learn more about the great continent and its peoples. School Groups of all ages can contact the Asia Society to have a Program developed for them focusing on current exhibitions. Programs last from 45 to 90 minutes.
