Butler is a 363 acre natural area serving as home to an abundance of wildlife. Though upland deciduous forest dominates most of the terrain, the sanctuary also contains a 30 acre red maple swamp, several smaller swamps, remnants of a cattail marsh, fields, and large rock outcroppings. While the Director offers occasional educational tours, no formal programs are available for groups. However, adult groups and well supervised school groups are welcome to use the sanctuary, making it ideal for groups with their own naturalist. The only requirement is that the sanctuary be left undisturbed. Individuals are always welcome to hike, photograph, study, etc. As with most natural areas, there are no picnic or toilet facilities. Owned and operated by the Nature Conservancy.
