This dynamic museum features Changing Exhibitions Only, a policy that offers a completely new experience to visitors on each visit.

Founded in 1953 as the Katonah Gallery, the Museum was originally located in the village library. In 1990 it moved into its newly constructed home -- a 10,000 square foot building containing two galleries, a Multi-Media Learning Center, and a Museum shop. Outdoors, the Sculpture Garden is used for ongoing exhibitions and community events such as lectures, concerts, and performances.

The Katonah Museum is a lively place, with a busy schedule of interesting, entertaining, and educational activities for individuals, families, and groups.

With eight to ten exhibitions per year, the Museum brings to visitors art of all cultures and periods, in various media. And the Museum is known in its community for its excellent educational programs for schools. Today the Museum collaborates with nearly one hundred schools representing a student population of over 65,000.

Programs are offered to schools subscribing to annual membership, which includes regular communication regarding new exhibitions and their relevance to student curricula; unlimited Tours with hands-on activities, use of the Art Lending Library of Traveling Displays and educational materials, special Workshops for high school students, a Visiting Artist Program which extends a Museum experience with a special project, and consultation with Education Department personnel on curriculum related projects. Note that non-member schools can also participate, but on a cost-per-student basis. The low membership fee is an exceptionally good deal.

Each tour and program is designed around the current exhibition and is tailored to meet the needs of individual groups.

This Museum is a great asset to the educational community and to the public at large. Enjoy!
