Located on the original site of the Ulster & Delaware Railroad yards at Milepost 1, this great museum occupies a building constructed on the foundation of the engine house which existed at the turn of the century.  In the upper level, visitors will find seasonal and permanent rail-related displays, video presentations and viewing windows overlooking the restoration shop.  At ground level, up to eight antique trolley, subway and rapid transit cars can be seen.  These cars are something to behold for their craftsmanship and pure beauty.  A real trip into yesterday.  But this museum presents more than static displays. 

Visitors can ride an antique trolley on a 1 1/2 mile excursion along the majestic Hudson.  The trip begins at the foot of Broadway in downtown Kingston and proceeds to picnic grounds on the Hudson shore, making stops at the Museum grounds as well as Strand Park (Rondout Creek) along the way.  The Park features picnic grounds also. 

All told the Museum owns some 30 cars dating as far back as 1907. 23 of them are stored at Kingston. The nostalgia and charm of these old rail cars attract many people. The historical value is priceless. For a group field trip or family outing, the Trolley Museum of New York is a great place well worth considering.
