Open to the public, ages 14 and older While there are no exhibitons to be found at the Historical Society of Pennsylvania (HSP), students and researchers will find a wealth of information on colonial, early national, and continual regional, Pennsylvania and family history. It is one of the largest family history libraries in the United States, and offers a manuscript collection renowned for its 17th-, 18th-, and 19th-century holdings. With more than 500,000 books, 300,000 graphic works, and 15 million manuscript items, HSP is one of the nation's premier non-governmental repositories of documentary materials. It is also one of the oldest historical societies in the nation, serving as an invaluable research and educational facility since 1824. The Historical Society of Pennsylvania publishes The Pennsylvania Magazine of History and Biography.
