The 200-acre (including the 80-acre zoo) Cape May County Park & Zoo offers a wide range of recreational activities, including a variety of sports, fishing, hiking, bike riding, outdoor concerts, and more. Facilities include covered pavilions, open-pit barbecues, and everything else a family needs for a great outing. But the best feature is the Zoo. The Cape May Zoo is home to almost 200 species of wildlife -- nearly 550 animals in all. The relaxed park setting houses tigers and lions and bears, zebra, buffalo, giraffe, and most of the animals usually found in the big zoos. The Reptile and Amphibian House is as popular here as it is in the Bronx Zoo, and it is home to a wide variety of species of all shapes and sizes. The World of Birds includes a lush tropical environment with many species of beautiful birds. The African Savanna is a 57-acre habitat where African animals of all types thrive. And domestic animals can be fed and touched in the Children's Zoo. The Zoo is great for individuals and groups, and staff will work with teachers to help provide a memorable experience for School Groups of all ages.
