Beneath the land where the Susquehannock Indians once lived, the Indian Echo Caverns features brilliant displays of color and form that only nature could create. Stalactites, stalagmites, flowstone, cave corral, and other underground wonders can be enjoyed in all their splendor. Crystal Lake (right) is just one of three cavern lakes that can be seen here. A 45-minute tour takes visitors through underground passages and geological wonders. Stalactites, stalagmites, flowstone, columns, and crystal lakes delight the senses. The legends of the caverns excite the imagination. Like all caverns, Indian Echo maintains a steady, cool temperature year-round. Great place for a summer outing! Hear about the Pennsylvania hermit who lived in the caverns for 19 years. See his "room". Or learn about the "Mystery Box" found by three explorers in 1919. A variety of other attractions (additional fee) provides an entire day of family fun, including Gem Mill Junction, a gemstone panning attraction, a Fossil Dig, and friendly animals at the Petting Barn Yard. There are special events throughout the year, including an autumn Hayride. Groups (20 or more), including School Groups are also welcome here and can use a study guide to enhance the tour. Special Birthday Party programs are available, and there's a nice pavilion with a seating capacity of 300 that can be rented for special parties and weddings. Call for details.
