This world-famous museum needs little introduction. It is a number one tourist attraction that features over a million precious objects, spanning 5,000 years of culture. Visitors can view the works of the old masters, discover the worlds of Monet, van Gogh, and the Impressionists, and explore the golden civilization of ancient Egypt. American history and domestic life are vividly portrayed in twenty-four period rooms. Individuals and families will love touring this place on their own, or joining in on one of many guided Highlights Tours, each of which explores a special area of the Museum. Staff-Guided Tours are adaptable for grades 4 and up, with many great topics, such as The Art of Ancient Egypt, Ancient America, African Art, The Art of Armor and the Middle Ages, and more. First Views is a selection of special tours for Kindergarten through 3rd grade. Several Multi-Visit Programs (grade 6 and up) are available, with each session conducted by the same instructor and including hands-on activities in the arts.
